The bahmal (handmade velvet) fabric is included to the UNESCO World Heritage List. Bakhmal had been woven in Uzbekistan in 1900-1907, and it was very expensive and rare due to the hand work and high cost of silk for making pile. The technology of its production was practically lost in Soviet times. Miraculously, a family of Uzbek weavers was able to renew it in the 1990s. Now, you can buy items made from this fabric right in our shop.
