Ikat is a traditional handmade fabric from Central Asia. At first, the threads are getting pulled into bunches. After that, they are being gradually painted in different colors, and only then, the fabric is being formed from the colored threads. Thus, it is all made entirely by hand.
Legendary Bahmal (Velvet Ikat) is a handmade product and woven in traditional hand looms with a very old technique. Bahmal width can’t be more than 40cm and lenght can be as long as 50m due to its special making technique. These bahmal fabrics have a beige stripe in every 200 -215cm.. this comes from the weaving technique and impossible to avoid it. All fabrics will have it. Also small imperfections on the fabric is natural and proof of handmade. Please do not expect 100% perfection!
